Terms of Service

Meme Bean Machine ("the Bot", "we", "us") is a Discord bot that lets users search several third-party meme/GIF archives (GIFGlobe, Frinkiac, Morbotron, Smega-drive, memeSRC) from within Discord and post the results to a channel. By adding the Bot to a server or using its commands, you agree to these Terms of Service.

1. What the Bot does

• /gifglobe, /frink, /morbo, /smegadrive, /memesrc — search a third-party site's screenshot/GIF archive for a quote or scene, show you an ephemeral private preview, and post your chosen result to the channel when you click Post.
• /help — shows usage information for the above.

All content returned by these commands (images, GIFs, captions) is sourced live from the third-party services listed above at the time of your search. We do not create, host, curate, or moderate that underlying content — the Bot is a search/retrieval convenience layer on top of those services.

2. Acceptable use

You may not use the Bot to:

• Violate Discord's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.
• Attempt to abuse, overload, or scrape the Bot or the third-party services it talks to (e.g. automated/bulk querying outside normal interactive use).
• Use the Bot to generate or post content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, or otherwise violates the rules of the Discord server you're using it in.

We may block individual users from interacting with a search session (e.g. someone other than the original requester clicking buttons on their ephemeral preview) to keep results tied to the person who asked for them.

3. Third-party services

The Bot relies on the following external services to function, each governed by their own terms:

• /gifglobe — GIFGlobe
• /frink — Frinkiac
• /morbo — Morbotron
• /smegadrive — Smega-drive (smegadrive.ganymede.tv)
• /memesrc — memeSRC

These services are operated independently of us. We don't control their availability, and if one of them is down, slow, or changes its API, the corresponding command may stop working without notice until we can fix it.

All show/movie screenshots and clips returned by the Bot remain the intellectual property of their original copyright holders (e.g. the respective TV studios/networks). The Bot surfaces short, user-selected clips/frames for commentary and meme purposes; it does not grant you any rights beyond what the source service itself permits.

4. No warranty

The Bot is provided "as is", as a hobby project, with no guarantee of uptime, accuracy, or availability. We make no warranties, express or implied, about the Bot or the content it returns.

5. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Bot, including content returned by the third-party services it queries.

6. Changes

We may update these Terms or the Bot's features at any time. Continued use of the Bot after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

7. Termination

We may remove the Bot's access to a server, or block a user from using it, at any time, for any reason, including abuse of the Bot or the underlying third-party services.
